Growing up in a household with two pianos where everyone played a bit, I got into jazz piano at an early age, and took the (then outlandishly new) Jazz Diploma at Leeds College of Music, main instrument piano and electric keyboards. Realizing that there's a lot more money in writing music than playing it, I've since moved into writing for various production libraries, as well as for jazz and classical ensembles. I've just obtained an MA in music composition at Bristol University.
I love having a go at new instruments, even if I might never play them to a professional standard, and incorporating them into my recorded pieces. At the time of writing my collection includes a harpsichord, various guitars, bass, oud, dulcimer, and for the present at least, a theorbo. You probably wouldn't want me on a gig with them though.

Here are some pieces I wrote or played on.
| 1. | Lost, Continued for Organ and Eb Trumpet, live recording at Victoria Rooms Bristol in 2011 |
| 2. | Ankle Deep, an ECM-esque tune recorded live in Cardiff with my band The Balance. |
| 3. | Full English is an improvised piece with electronics featuring Tony Orrell on drums, together we comprise "The Jellilalas". |
| 4. | Veljo, another improv piece from the same session. |
| 5. | John vs John was also written for The Balance |
| 6. | One Eye Opens This is an 'open score' piece - meaning that both the instrumentation and some of the notes the musicians play is not predetermined - originally written with CoMA in mind, here premiered by Bristol University New Music Ensemble at Victoria Rooms Bristol in 2011. |
| 7. | Toccatine For Two This is electronic demo for a duet for Vibes and Marimba |
| 8. | Tuesday Electronica using prayer bowl samples |
| 9. | Extrusions for Trombone Solo live recording at Victoria Rooms Bristol in 2010 |
| 10. | Doxy This extract was recorded at St James Wine Vaults, Bath with the Jazz House Trio and Pete Judge |
| 11. | Taqsim Electronic piece based around some riffs on a Turkish Oud |
| 12. | Bigger Splashes Turns out that pieces made from water sounds are a bit of a sub-genre in the field of electronic (or "acousmatic") music. This is my take. The original is in 5.1 surround which is more - er - immersive, but I wouldn't claim to be the first person to record drips chasing around in circles. |
